IBK-fibertec – GRP. Worldwide.

With our products, services and qualities, we have become an internationally active market leader for GRP antenna cylinders and GRP mobile phone masts. Today we are applying the same winding technology to new fields – for example to large-volume GRP water tanks from 15,000 to 100,000 litres.

Portfolio

New field of application: large-volume water tanks

Fire water supply is becoming a condition of planning approval, dry spells and heavy rainfall are becoming a planning task, and industrial plants need reliable buffers. We are applying 40 years of filament winding to a market in which GRP has so far been little established – with tanks from 15,000 to 100,000 litres, above or below ground, calculated for each specific project.

Fire water storage to DIN 14230, process and cooling water, verifications included in the offer package.

Fire water on the farm, rainwater harvesting, irrigation, process and utility water.

Manufacturing process

One composite – three techniques

GRP is a heavy-duty composite material made from plastic and continuous glass fibres. We use three production techniques for our wide range of products:

  • Winding technique
  • Manual lamination
  • Injection technique

Winding technique – round and round

This technique involves winding resin-impregnated glass fibres onto a core, allowing the production of rotationally symmetric structures and hollow objects. The use of continuous fibres also results in lower costs, since the worksteps are computer-controlled.

Hand laminates – individual quality

In this traditional manufacturing process for fiber composites, GRP components are manually laminated in open moulds of any size. The products are characterised by a high degree of surface quality and superior strength. We use hand laminates for smaller series and simpler components.

The company IBK-Fibertec –
development, production and consulting

The nucleus of IBK-Fibertec was the IBK Ingenieur-Büro für Kunststofftechnik GmbH. Under Bernd Burgwedel and Harald Westrup, all areas were decisively developed and expanded. The company is headquartered in Büren in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Today, IBK-Fibertec is an independent, family-owned limited company known worldwide for its leadership position in the international GRP market, with customers from more than 22 countries.

The company’s services include consulting, planning, design and the manufacturing of fiber-composite products.

The access to 40 years of experience with the material GRP forms the basis today for high-quality production and the permanent development of innovative and intelligent lightweight products.
